The start of the ‘Acting Against Worms’ project. Jeff and Rebecca were in the Busia area of Uganda in late October beginning the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative schools drama project about Bilharzia.
We did an ‘inset’ session with teachers and community drama workers and then visited 9 ‘bush’ schools to run drama sessions initiating a process where the pupils involved will develop their own short drama pieces to be performed in their schools and in their local communities about the prevention and treatment of Bilharzia. It was tough going but the kids were great and our Ugandan team terrific. We return next year to mount a festival of the work and plot further developments. Photos and video will be posted shortly.
